Classic tiki lounges in
the United States were
specialty bars that created
well-balanced tropical
cocktails. The first authentic
tiki lounge was Don the
Beachcomber Rum Bar in
Hollywood, which opened in
1934. From there, all kinds
of tiki lounges sprung up
across the USA, spreading
the fantasy of the South
Pacific. Although there are
tiki bars here and there, only
one in Alameda claims to
be authentic.
