Courtesy BikeAlameda Celebrate your Island lifestyle and travel waterwise to the city on Bike to Work Day. You've decided to leave the car at home and get some fresh air. Why not go all the way and make it a cool sea breeze? The Alameda Harbor Bay and Alameda/Oakland ferries will offer free rides all day Thursday, May 12 to passengers with bikes. This is the sixth year that the ferries have participated in this event. The ferries steward clean air and water everyday in support of a healthy environment. This is one way they can show their appreciation for those who join their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on Bike To Work Day. The best part is you don't need to choose between enjoying an Energizer Station and getting on board the ferries to get to work. On Bike to Work Day, you can do both at the same time. BikeAlameda volunteers will be on board during the morning commute to provide you with the latest news on local biking events and services and a free gift bag along with the free passage. Your bike is your ticket to a cruise across the bay so be sure to bring it along. Alameda/Oakland Ferry departs the Terminal at 2990 Main St. at 6:10, 7:15, 8:20, 9:29 and the Harbor Bay Ferry departs the Terminal at 1141 Harbor Bay Parkway at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30.
