Courtesy BikeAlameda BikeAlameda and Community for a Sustainable Alameda (CASA) encourage all Alamedans physically able to do so to either bike or walk to their place of worship the weekend of May 14 and 15. Get some exercise and fresh air on your way to and from services. You'll garner a different perspective and appreciation of your neighborhood on two feet or two wheels, than you do behind the wheel of a motor driven vehicle. To plan your route, pick up a free BikeAlameda Bicycling and Walking Map at any local bike shop and other locations in town or view it online at www.bikealameda.org/info/map. Don't forget to wear a helmet to keep your head safe when bicycling, and make sure your place of worship has a secure location to store your bike or bring a U-lock and lock your bike properly. If you aren't physically able to walk or bike, consider carpooling with a friend who lives nearby if possible, in the spirit of treading a little more softly on the earth in our daily lives. |
