As I was compiling the Alameda Sun 2011 Year in Review, it became apparent that the city government had a diffi cult year. These New Year's resolutions could help the city avoid a year like the last one: 1. No more lawsuits in 2012. Last year, the former city manager, former city attorney, and former fi re chief all sued the city. Make 2011 the last litigious year. 2. No more interim employees in 2012. For a portion of last year, the city manager, the city attorney, the police chief and the fi re chief were all interim employees. Please go one year without an interim. 3. More transparency. Avoid such transparency issues as the Park Street tree removal and Mif Albright land swap scandals. 4. Finally, create a real Alameda Point development plan. |
