Courtesy photoEdgardo Cambon The wonder that is Juanita's Juanita's Mexican Restaurant on Park Street will kick off a weekend-long celebration on Cinco de Mayo, in concert with the Park Street Spring Festival. All weekend long, Thursday, May 5 through Sunday, May 8, Juanita's will offer all domestic and imported beers and all margaritas for just $3 each from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as their Spring Festival special. For the day of Cinco de Mayo, Juanita's will present live music by Chuy y Sus Teclados. Juanita's Mexican Restaurant is located at 1324 Park St. For more information or reservations, call 865-2588. Cinco de Mayo at Otaez Across town on Webster Street a Cinco de Mayo celebration is planned at Otaez Mexican Restaurant as well. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a live performance by Latin rock band En Vivo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The fiesta will include tequila tastings, raffle and drink specials all with no cover charge. A taste of salsa at Rhythmix In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Rhythmix Cultural Works will present a fun-filled evening of salsa dance on Saturday, May 7. Enjoy the music of conga drummer-lead singer Edgardo Cambon and his salsa band Edgardo & Candela. As the second concert of the Rhythmix Island to Island Arts Festival series, Edgardo and Candela bring the music of Cuba and Puerto Rico in combination with Edgardo's original tunes and salsa hits of the '70s and '80s to Alameda. Come at 8 p.m. for the salsa dance lesson followed by two sets of exhilarating dance music to put your newfound moves to the test! Edgardo will also be teaching an afternoon Percusion de la salsa: a family workshop using congas, bongó, timbales, guiro, maracas, claves, and chekeré to learn the basic rhythms of salsa, mambo, cha-cha-chá and more. Ages 13 and up, all levels welcome! The workshop runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Dance lesson and concert get underway at 8 p.m. Workshop costs $15 with advance registration, $20 at the door, $25 in combination with a ticket to the evening performance.
