Quinn Fitzgerald of the Men's Varsity Strokes team hails from Moraga. Enrollment for potential rowers in Alameda is now open.

Oakland Strokes, founded in 1974, is a nationally renowned co-ed rowing program boasting a diverse membership of over 160 rowers from more than 35 East Bay middle and high schools.

Over the decades the Strokes have enjoyed many competitive successes, including victories at the Regional and National championships, representation at the World Championships, and invitations to prestigious international rowing events such as the Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames in London. Our athletes are frequently academically successful as well. Recent Strokes alumni are rowing at Yale, Cal, Princeton, Washington, Dartmouth, Penn, Stanford, Cornell, USC, UVA, and Michigan as well as many other fine schools.

The Oakland Strokes row on the beautiful Oakland Estuary. Our boathouse is in the Jack London Aquatic Center (JLAC) just south of Jack London Square along the Oakland Estuary. Oakland Strokes shares the boathouse facility and docks with the JLAC and Berkeley High School crew teams.

In the fall of 2010 we'll be moving to our very own boathouse further south along the Estuary near the High Street bridge. Rowing is not about the individual, it is about the entire crew: working, sweating, strategizing, executing, thinking, and always improving as one unit.
