Celebrate those with Disabilities

The city's Commission on Disability Issues is celebrating October as National Disability Awareness Month with three events. Last Saturday, the fifth annual treeplanting ceremony kicked off the festivities. An evening of art will celebrate the artistic diversity of local children and adults living with physical and other limitations this evening, Thursday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alameda Free Library, 1550 Oak St. Then on Saturday, Nov. 5, the second bi-annual resource fair "Alameda Cares: Citizens Engage Supportive Services" (ACCESS) will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College of Alameda's Student Center Building F, 555 Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway with more than 40 participating organizations.
