Alameda Hospital, 2070 Clinton Ave., is hosting a community health fair from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23. The fair includes health screenings, activities and exhibits for the entire family.
Flu shots will be available for those 60 years and older, or for anyone with a chronic medical condition, while supplies last.
Vascular screening will also be available, but space is limited and an appointment is required; call 814-4362. Visitors to the fair can avail themselves of blood glucose testing for diabetes; blood pressure, podiatry and cholesterol screenings; body mass index and body fat analysis and quick-look EKGs. Osteoporosis screenings will be available for a fee.
Exhibits at the fair will include disaster preparedness with low-cost disaster and first aid kits available; cancer, injury and flu prevention, a chair massage and senior safety. Kids under 12 can sign up for a bike helmet giveaway while supplies last; winners must be present at the drawing to collect their prizes.
The hospital will also offer kid-safe photo IDs and safety and disaster, healthy nutrition, as well as hand washing and flu-prevention information.
