On Oct. 8, 144 parents, teachers and students gathered at Bright Horizons-Garner Learning Center to attempt to break last year's million reader's record during the Read for the Record event, featuring the book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

While the book was read, The Pre-K class acted out each character. Afterward, another Pre-K class recited the life cycle of a butterfly to everyone's delight.

"We joined thousands of hosted events across the country reading the same book on the same day," said the school's Director, Theresa Magabo. The day long activities and event culminated with the Garner students eating frosted cupcakes shaped to match the picture of the Hungry Caterpillar. Bright Horizons-Garner Learning Center eagerly awaits the final participation number hoping to break last year's record.

Garner Learning Center has been providing children in Alameda with high-quality early education opportunities since 1973.
