Four brothers Leonard Porritt, Marvin Porritt, Jack Porritt, Leslie Porritt and one sister Leola Porritt Larkin preceded her in death. She was a home maker until she went to work at Montgomery Wards in Oakland and retired from there after 15 years in August 1973 then she and Manuel moved up to Lake County to live in Soda Bay. In her lifetime she enjoyed boating, skiing, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, baking, family scrapbooks, taking family movies and always enjoyed helping "Speedy" in his building adventures, such as their home in Soda Bay which was built over 50 years ago. Marjorie was an excellent seamstress and sewed for friends while she was a home maker. One item she made was a beautiful Wedding Dress while living in Oakland. Marjorie made her own car and boat seat covers. She loved knitting and gave her Children and Grandchildren choices for items to be made each year. We received afghan's, sofa and arm rest covers, hats, potholders and covered hangers. We all cherish these handmade items today. Marjorie and Manuel enjoyed 25 years as snowbirds in Yuma Arizona leaving Soda Bay (Lake County) each year mid October and returning mid April. Marjorie had Alzheimer's disease since suffering a stroke in 1997. Her nickname "Marty" was given to her by her deceased husband. Marjorie influenced many lives over the years and was known for her wisdom and integrity amongst all that know her. We will remember her kind generous nature and easy warm infectious smile she will forever be in our hearts. All of her Grandchildren have special memories of her and now it's up to all of us to keep her spirit and generosity alive in our own lives.
