Carlson Receives Tech Grant Life-long treasure-hunter Rusty Carlson of Rusty's Real Deal, an estate liquidation service based in Alameda, recently received a $1, 500 technology grant from the Women's Initiative for Self-Employment (WISE). Flor Melara of the San Francisco WISE office presented Carlson with the grant. Carlson received the grant, based on residency and her recent graduation from WISE and need. She will use the grant money to purchase digital camera equipment. APC Seeks Donations Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is looking for donations of back-to-school supplies and backpacks for the 300 children and youth it serves. APC is seeking donated supplies for these students, or through giving to the Alameda Education Foundation. APC will accept donations through Aug. 15 at its office, 677 W. Ranger Ave. on Alameda Point. There are also donation bins at Alameda Hospital, 2700 Clinton Ave. Anyone with large donation can call 898-7845 for assistance. Donations are fully tax-deductible.
