Annual exhibit and silent auction benefit scholarship fund

Alameda Women Artists (AWA) will present their 18th Annual Exhibit and Silent Auction at the Alameda Historical Museum, 2324 Alameda Ave., from Friday, Aug. 5 to Saturday, Aug. 27 with a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13.

The reception will afford the public a chance to meet the artists and learn about their works, begin bidding on the silent auction and enjoy the museum.

This year's show will showcase 19 unique and talented artists in such media as painting (oil, acrylics, encaustic and watercolor) pastels, sculpture, monotype, photography, graphite drawings, collage, mixed media, printmaking and more.

The silent auction art forms a figurative quilt with unique personal pieces from each artist arranged to form a new whole. Auction proceeds will benefit AWA's Annual Scholarship Fund. AWA will host a closing reception Saturday Aug. 27 from, 1 to 3 p.m. with a members' sales boutique and the closing of the silent auction at 2:15 p.m.
