The Main Library, 1550 Oak St., will screen the film Urban Roots this Sunday, Aug. 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the community meeting room. The movie follows the urban farming phenomenon in Detroit, and speaks to a nation grappling with collapsed industrialism and the need to forge a sustainable and prosperous future. Small group discussions about how Alameda's local urban farming movement can help build a healthy, sustainable, local food supply will follow the screening. |
