| Rhythmix Celebrates Belly-Dance Day |

Courtesy photo Persian American Dancer Shabnam Shirvani will perform as part of Belly Dance Day at Rhythmix. Award-winning, top-notch bellydance performances are just part of what people will see at Rhythmix Cultural Works' Fire and Ice extravaganza this Sunday, Aug. 28. There will also be performances in classical, contemporary, fusion and modern belly-dance styles. Miriam Peretz will perform a Persian dance. Persian American Dancer Shabnam Shirvani will perform classical, Oriental and modern belly dances. Stage performer Zahara will perform in "cabaret style." Zahara will wear a more spectacular costume as she dances to create a cabaret atmosphere. Argentenian Sumaia De La Camara will dance in a modern Egyptian flavor, while Heaven Mousalem will perform belly-dance fusion. Troupe Ooh La La will cap off the evening with belly dance and burlesque fusion. The Acro Belly-Dance Trio will also be on hand performing an artistic taqsim (slow dance) that will blend belly-dance and Middle Eastern dance with acrobatics and contortion.
