The show will premiere a piece Bay Area jazz composer Jeanne Geiger wrote for DoubleTake. Although the duo was officially founded in November 2009, Shaina Evoniuk and Natasha Makhijani have been playing together since 2004. Each holds a bachelor of music in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Evoniuk's performances have included appearances at Davies Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts and Yoshi's Jazz Club as part of innovative Bay Area collective Jazz Mafia. Makhijani has appeared as concertmaster and assistant concertmaster of numerous orchestras, including the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the Eastman School of Music and the Eastern and Las Vegas Music Festivals. Most recently she appeared as assistant concertmaster and soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra. The pair will perform at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at Rhythmix.
