Alameda Resident Killed in Car Crash

An Alameda resident was killed in a car accident after colliding with a concrete wall in Benicia on June 30. Paul Peterson was moving a yellow 2003 AC Cobra Classic Kit car from one business in the Benicia Industrial Park to the Specialty Sales Classics building where he works to put the car into a photo shoot. The building is located at 5302 Gateway Plaza Drive.

While driving to the location, Peterson drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided with a concrete trash dumpster enclosure located at the rear of the building, according to Lt. Frank Hartig of the Benicia Police Department (BPD).

Witnesses of the accident notified BPD around 5:03 p.m. Officers said Peterson was not wearing a safety harness, which caused him to strike his head on the concrete wall.

Benicia Police and Fire Departments transported Peterson to the John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek where he passed away.

Peterson was 52 years old.
