Neighbors of the survivors of the Nov. 27 Briggs Avenue apartment fire ("Suspected Arson Fire on Briggs," Dec. 5) have organized to help those the fire displaced. Three families lost their homes when smoke and water damaged three apartments.
These families will now need to rebuild their lives. Not only will they have to find new, affordable places to live, but they also have to replace belongings destroyed by the smoke and water. "We are collecting funds that will be distributed directly to those the fire affected," the neighbors said.
Alameda Sun readers should contact the drive's coordinator Shivaun McDonald at 295-7357 to learn how they can help.
"The drive will run until Tuesday, Dec. 10. "After that please consider making a direct contribution to the American Red Cross," the neighbors said.
