Kathy and Kelly to Perform for the Season of Love

Kathy Moehring will be singing love songs (and not so love songs) from the Great American songbook, Broadway and her teenage angst years at Rhythmix Cultural Works (RCW) 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3. Moehring promises music that feels good as it tells stories about life and love.

With Moehring's vocals leading the Kelly Park Trio, the ensemble encompasses the basics of classic jazz improvisation. The dynamic trio veers in a variety of directions, but always returns to the strong melody lines that ensnare the listener. Kelly Park is a professional pianist, drummer, arranger, and composer. His background is mainly in the jazz and popular music field, with a degree in jazz composition and arranging from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. At Berklee, Park was also a faculty member, teaching harmony, theory, and arranging.

Moehring studied theater in her hometown of New York City and performed on many stages from off Broadway to off-off-off Broadway. Kathy has entertained audiences at numerous venues in the Bay Area, including The Empire Plush Room, Forli's, Club Paradiso, Woodminster Theatre, Theatre Rhinoceros and for the American Cancer Society at Golden Gate Park. She also sings at weddings and funerals.

The cost for the concert is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. RCW is located at 2513 Blanding Ave. For more information visit www.rhythmix.org or call 865-5060.
