Homicide Committed on Alameda Avenue

At 6:36 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 911 callers reporting gunshots summoned Alameda police officers to the 2100 block of Alameda Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 30-year-old Alameda woman and a 36-year-old Oakland man both suffering from gunshot wounds. Alameda Police Department (APD) reported that the man's wounds were self-inflicted. Officers found a firearm at the scene, which they believe belonged to the man.

Alameda Fire Department paramedics' attempt to save the woman proved futile; she succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he died at 1:44 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14. APD's investigation indicates the couple had been involved in a relationship.
