Last Friday's St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) women's basketball game had all the elements for a great senior night. The gym was packed with students, faculty and parents of SJND players. SJND honored seniors Samantha Maritzen, Jessica De Mesa and Alexis Perez before the game, and the SJND crowd was cheering on their team throughout the game. However, one problem interfered with the joyous occasion: the game.

Dee Appleton shot a low net 63 to take first place in the Feb. 9 Alameda Women's Golf Club Tournament on the Earl Fry Course at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex. Stephanie Bellato logged the low gross of the day with an 85.

Mid-February marks the end of the winter sports regular season for high schools throughout Alameda.

The Alameda High School (AHS) women's water polo team's season peaked with the presentation of the North Coast Section (NCS) scholastic award at the Jan. 24 Board of Education meeting.

Alameda Women's Golf Club's Charm Day event last Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Jack Clark Course belonged to Diane Hughes who shot a low net 66 to win the club's charm for the month of February.
