Island City Free-Throw Champ Named

Alameda's own Jason Cibull has advanced to the Elks Hoop Shoot Northern California Semi - Finals after he finished in first place in the Elks Hoop Shoot District Finals Jan. 14 at Serra High School in San Mateo.

"I'm pretty excited," said 8-yearold Cibull who attends Bay Farm Elementary School. "I've been practicing at home in my backyard." Cibull won the 8-to-9-year-old division by making 19 out of 25 free throws.

Cibull, who said basketball is his favorite sport, advances in the Hoop Shoot with the support of his mother, Mye, his older brother, Ryan and his father, Steve, who taught him how to play basketball. "I got my shot from my dad," said Cibull.

The Northern California Semi- Finals will be held at Foothill Farms Junior High School in Sacramento Saturday, Feb. 11, at noon.

This is Steve Cibull's younger son. Apparently, both boys are pretty good basketball players.
