The winter sports season for Alameda high schools is winding to a close. Here is an update on the respective sports standings. The Alameda Hornets' men's basketball team sports a 10-10 overall record and currently is 1- 4 in the Alameda Contra Costa Athletic League (ACCAL). Alameda beat Pinole Valley High 39-35 last Friday. The Hornets took on Richmond High last Tuesday and will face Berkeley High tomorrow at the Hornets' Nest. The Alameda women's basketball team is off to a 12-5 start and is 2-1 in the ACCAL. The Lady Hornets will have the same schedule as the men's team this week.

The Encinal Jets men's basketball team is 6-12 on the season with a 1-4 Bay Shore Athletic League (BSAL) record, but they did manage to convincingly defeat Albany High 55-43 last Friday. They competed against Encinal on Wednesday, will play Swett High of Crockett Friday and Albany High on Monday.

Not to be outdone by the men's team, the Lady Pilots have also been impressive this season with their 13-6 overall record and 4- 2 BSAL record. They play Swett today at home and will face Albany Monday on the road.

There are fewer than three weeks left in the winter soccer season.

The women's team is currently 8-5-2, but is 5-1 in the ACCAL and is undefeated at home, 5-0- 1. Their game against Berkeley High, scheduled for last Thursday was postponed, but they faced Hercules High Tuesday. They will play El Cerrito today and De Anza of Richmond next Tuesday.

Encinal's men's soccer team is 3-4 on the season and 3-3 in the BSAL. The Hornets faced Piedmont Wednesday and will face Salesian today.

The women's team is 5-3-2 on the season and has a 4-2-1 BSAL record. The team has won three straight including a 2-1 victory over crosstown rival SJND on Jan. 17. The Lady Hornets played Kennedy High of Richmond on Wednesday and will play Piedmont Friday.

The Pilots' men's soccer team is 3-7 on the season including a 2-4 BSAL record. The Pilots took on Swett Wednesday and face Moreau Catholic today.

The Pilots' women's team is 3-7-1 on the year and 3-2-1 in league. Their next game is not until Wednesday, Feb. 1, against St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo.
