Kathleen Brown The Alameda High School (AHS) women's water polo team's season peaked with the presentation of the North Coast Section (NCS) scholastic award at the Jan. 24 Board of Education meeting. The student athletes earned this award by maintaining a 3.46 team grade point average throughout the season. The young women finished in second place in the Alameda Contra Costa County Athletic League (ACCAL). AHS made its first appearance in 10 years in the NCS water polo tournament. ACCAL named coach Leslie Cortez coach of the year. The league selected senior Rosalee Brown to the All-ACCAL first team; seniors Erica Escalante and Megan Klembith and sophomore Rebecca Krause made second team. Sophomore Mariana Daniel received honorable mention. Klembith and Brown also earned All East Bay Team honors. |
