Thanks for dope stories

Editor:
A special thanks to Dennis Evanosky of the Alameda Sun for staying on top of Alameda’s cannabis issue. This regards the city’s plans to expand and open nine more dispensaries. In the article, it is stated that “Nine applicants have secured locations in Alameda (“City Set to Interview Cannabis Candidates,” Oct. 31). If all nine are approved that will give Alameda a total of 10 dispensaries!

I believe that enough is enough as the city staff moves forward to make Alameda a “pot” town. Ten dispensaries, really?! Our city is four by two miles. I think a maximum of one dispensary is plenty for our community.

I sincerely hope that voters in upcoming elections remember former Mayor Trish Spencer and Councilmembers Jim Oddie and Malia Vella who supported the cannabis issue. Alamedans must continue to look out for the best interests of our community, our families and our children. Ten dispensaries in Alameda does not do this.

Editor’s note: It is our understanding that from the nine approved candidates just two dispensaries and two growers will be permitted to move forward.
