Rename Jackson Park

On July 21 the Alameda City Council voted unanimously to remove Andrew Jackson’s name from the park at Encinal and Park avenues. A Park Renaming Committee was formed and is now asking the Alameda community for name ideas.

The City of Alameda announced on Tuesday, Sept. 29, that Randy Fenn will become the city’s Interim Police Chief. He will start work Monday, Oct. 5. Fenn retired earlier this year as the chief of police for the City of Fairfield.
