Vali Ebert &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Team Japan celebrates after winning its seventh straight World Tournament Baseball competition at the College of Alameda baseball field. The tournament included teams from all over the world including Italy, Australia and Korea. The tournament also included an Alameda team.

Japan Wins International Tournament

Team Japan won the 36th annual World Tournament Baseball event after a 2-1 victory over team Korea in the final Saturday, Aug. 12, at the College of Alameda. It was Japan’s seventh straight World Tournament Baseball championship.

The Alameda Women’s Golf Club’s August charm went to three women after the golfers ended the August Charm tournament in a three-way tie atop the leaderboard. Susan Yoon, Ruby Soo and Hazel Willacy all shot net 67s for a share of the charm.

The 63rd Alameda Swim Meet took place Aug. 4 to 6, at the Encinal High School Swim Center. There were 90 different meets at the event with multiple freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and individual medley competitions.
