St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) long-distance runner Cooper Teare won two major long distance races earlier this month.
First Teare won the New Balance Indoor National one-mile men’s competition Saturday, March 12, in New York, N.Y., with a time of 4:06.60.
Alameda’s storied amateur golf tournament established by a group of ferry commuters in 1927 will enter its ninth decade this year. The 90th anniversary of the Commuters golf tournament has been set for two weekends: April 22 and 23 and April 29 and 30.

Men’s Basketball
The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) men’s basketball team’s run toward a NorCal open division championship ended after a 67-61 loss to Archbishop Mitty of San Jose last Friday, March 10.
The Alameda High baseball team hosted the Jyoto High baseball team from Fukuoka, Japan, for an exhibition match at the College of Alameda Friday, March 3.
The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) men’s basketball team made quick work of Lick-Wilmerding of San Francisco to win the North Coast Section Div. IV tournament 63-33 last Saturday, March 4.
All four basketball teams from Alameda and Encinal high schools were eliminated from the postseason last week.
