Alameda High tight end Alex Denney has been named to the U.S. Under-18 National Team and will compete against Canada in the 2016 International Bowl at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. 

The 24th annual Island Classic basketball tournament kicks off today at St. Joseph Notre Dame’s gym. All three Island men’s teams will participate. Encinal will play Averros of Fremont at 3:50 p.m., while Alameda will take on Lincoln of San Francisco.

The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) men’s and women’s cross country teams put together strong showings at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) cross country finals last Saturday, Nov. 30, at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Two sisters attending St. Joseph Notre Dame High School (SJND) swept the North Coast Section (NCS) Div. II tennis tournaments last month. SJND freshman Azaria Hayes blew away the competition on her way to being crowned the NCS Div. II tennis singles champion.

Alameda High senior Catherine Boles recently commited to attend University of California, Santa Barabara, as a student-athlete on the school’s swim team.
Boles, 17, signed her national letter of intent to UC Santa Barbara Thursday, Nov. 11, during the early signing period. 

The 2015 women’s volleyball season has come to a close for all three Alameda high school teams. 

The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) women’s cross country team won the 2015 Div. V North Coast Section (NCS) women’s cross country meet last Saturday, Nov. 21.

The Alameda Attack varsity high school lacrosse team won the Northern California Junior Youth Lacrosse Association playoffs last Saturday, May 9, in just its second year at the varsity high school level.
