The Encinal Jets basketball team took down Head Royce of Oakland 67-53 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to improve its record to 11-8 overall. The Jets won the non-league contest in a special holiday afternoon game on the road.

Last weekend visitors to the Little Ice Rink at South Shore Center were treated to a visit from Sharkie, the San Jose Sharks Ice Hockey team’s mascot. The National Hockey League mascot likely offered some tips to the kids as he is an extremely accomplished ice skater.
The Dec. 5 Midway Shelter Run and Walk saw a special dedication to a long-time supporter of the Midway Shelter and special recognition of a new supporter who is rising through the ranks.
