ACI Trash Talk FEB 2022

Have you heard of Senate Bill (SB) 1383? Otherwise known as California’s Short-Lived Climate Pollutant Reduction Act, SB 1383 became effective this January in the City of Alameda. For more details, visit the websites listed below.

How does this law affect you?
ALL residents and businesses in the City of Alameda must have organic waste collection services in place AND must recycle ALL of their organic materials including food waste and food-soiled paper. Contact ACI at 510-483-1400, or www.AlamedaCountyIndustries.com to improve or start your organics collection service today!

Why recycle organic waste?
Food scraps and yard waste together currently make up more than 30% of what we throw away and could be composted instead. Making compost keeps these materials out of landfills where they take up space and release methane, a climate super pollutant more than 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Help keep your community clean and green and do your part! Keep the organics stream clean.

Only place items that were once alive into the green organics collection containers. The material is collected and taken to a facility to create compost.

• PROPER SORTING MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Food scraps and food-soiled paper belong in your green organics containers along with yard trimmings and clean wood.
• AVOID CONTAMINATION. Plastic, metal, and glass do NOT belong in the green organics containers.
• THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORTS! Together we can all make a difference!
