AFD Purchased Triple Pumper 100 Years Ago

The Jan. 7, 1920, fire that destroyed buildings on Park Street and Webb and Lincoln avenues prompted the Alameda Fire Department (AFD) to purchase not one, but two Seagrave Triple Combination Pumpers. The lone survivor, shown here, thrills spectators at the city’s annual Fourth of July parade.
