Cambra Appointed to Open Government Commission

The Alameda City Council unanimously approved Councilmember Trish Spencer’s representative, Jeff Cambra, to the City’s Open Government Commission (OGC) at its last meeting of the year.

Cambra, a 35-year Alameda resident, served on the OGC as its chair from 2013-2014.

“I am grateful to Councilmember Spencer for selecting me to serve on this important commission and honored to once again serve the residents of Alameda,” Cambra said.

According to the City’s website, the Open Government Commission’s role is to advise the City Council on appropriate ways in which to implement the Sunshine Ordinance and develop goals to ensure the practical and timely implementation of the ordinance. The commission also hears complaints of alleged violations of the Sunshine Ordinance and may assess fines against the city for subsequent similar violations of the ordinance.

“I hope to add my experience to the commission’s decision-making process when it hears a complaint,” said Cambra, a former litigator and hearing officer.
