College to Screen Film on Sexual Assault

College to Screen Film on Sexual Assault

A free film screening to bring attention to Sexual Assault Awareness Month has been set for Wednesday, April 27, at the College of Alameda. The film titled It Happened Here will be screened at noon in Building F at the college.

Amherst College is the setting for It Happened Here. What happened there, however, is a tragic event the school does not want in the spotlight. The documentary from director Lisa F. Jackson and producer Marjorie Schwartz Nielsen, explores sexual assault on campuses through the personal testimonials of five survivors who transform their experiences into a springboard for change.

The screening is sponsored by the American Association of University Women — Alameda Branch, League of Women Voters and College of Alameda.
