The Alameda Women’s Golf Club (AWGC) kicked off the 2022 season on Jan. 13.
Valarie Buschor inched out a one stroke victory over Kathy Nagakura in the first flight with a net score of 74. Cheryl Saxton finished in third place with a net of 77 closely followed in fourth place by Kari Vadnais and Jenny Bae tied at 78. Susan Ferrera came in fifth place with an 82 net score followed by Carole Pillow at 84 and Tai Chewpanich at 86.
Laura Marinai tied for the best net score of the event with Denise Gasti by shooting a net 69 in flight two. Lynn Kobatake and Claire Loud tied for second place in the flight with a net 75. Denise Link scored a net 77 for third place followed by Maggie Lindquist at net 82, Lynn Jones at net 83, Jeanne Yip at net 84, Chizu Holmes at net 86 and Cynthia Withrow at net 87.
Elisabeth Fredricsson took the top spot in flight three with a net 72. Sarah Valentine took second place at net 80 followed by Diana Millado in third place at net 82. Sia Scates and Judy Eng tied for fourth place at net 83 followed by Madeline Sally at net 88 and Alice Wong at net 90.
Sonia Kwak took first place in flight four with a net 73. Louise Eilhardt and Flor Ventanilla posted a net 80 to tie for second place. Ann Ching came in third at net 81. Completing flight four for the day was Jamie Totsubo at net 84, Helen Young at net 87 and Peggy Marcenaro at net 90.
Gasti shot her net 69 to win the fifth flight. Barbara Barton shot a net 70 to claim second place and Sandi Kaney shot a net 72 for third place. Club Captain Diane Hughes came in fourth place with a net 78 followed by Barbara Mickle and Dee Appleton who tied at net 79. Jane Sullwold posted a net 80 and Marietta Brown a net 89.
Vivian Kang won flight six with a net 72 followed by Siv Richards in second place with a net 74. Barbara Mehan claimed third place with a net 76 followed by Carolee Ziegenhagen at net 80 and Pamela Curtis at net 91.
Kathy Nagakura won the January Low Putt Charm with only 33 putts.
Siv Richards won closest-to-the-pin contest on pin #5 with a beautiful drive that landed 8’ 5” from the hole. Valarie Buschor posted the best gross score of the day with an 83.
AWGC events are played at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex.
