Hoop Shoots Kicks Off Tomorrow
The 47th annual Alameda Elks Hoop Shoots Alameda City Finals takes place tomorrow at the Alameda Point Gymnasium at 1101 West Red Line Ave.
The winners in each division will go on to represent the City of Alameda and the Alameda Elks at the District Shoot-Off in late January.
The Elks Hoop Shoot Competition started on Oct. 14, and ended on Dec. 13, 2019, at parks throughout the city. This free competition was held at the following sites during program hours: Bayport, Franklin, Leydecker, Lincoln, Longfellow, Tillman and Washington parks along with the Alameda Point Gym.
The contest consists of shooting free throws. Each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop. A child may compete as many times as he or she wishes. Both boys and girls are eligible to play. Participants must be between the ages of eight and 13.
