Island Poets to Meet

The Island Poets will host their free monthly poetry reading Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, 1601 Paru St.

Poets Natica Angilly and Ken Peterson are scheduled to read.  Open mic follows. Light refreshments will be served for a donation.

Angilly is the author of Dancing Poetry, Classical Expressions for Poetic Dancers and Dance Passions. She received a Book of the Year award from the University Women of Marin. Each January, Natica coordinates an art and poetry show at the Alameda Museum.

Peterson is the group’s second president. He writes humorous poetry, influenced by such poets as Thurber, Nash and Parker. He is a haiku expert and is often referred to as “master of the short form.” Peterson is an award-winning poet and his work appears in several anthologies, including Alameda Theme Poems.
