Jets Defeat Hornets to Repeat as League Champs

Encinal Women’s Water Polo defeated Alameda High in the West Alameda County League Championship on Oct. 30 by a score of 12-4.

“It felt amazing,” said Encinal junior Vivian Barber. “All the hard work all of us have put in this season…so thankful and proud.”

The Lady Jets, who went undefeated in a shortened season in the spring, beat the Hornets twice this fall season.

“When it comes to Alameda, I always have a pit in my stomach before the game,” said Encinal senior Jade Jegers. “When you play a team that is even skill level with you, you struggle in the game, that struggle and that fear of a loss makes the win sheer bliss.”

Alameda (18-8) faced Cardinal Newman in the NCS playoffs on Nov. 3rd. Encinal (22-4) had a first round bye and plays again on Nov. 6th.
