The 2019 Alameda Firefighters Toy giveaway program is getting underway.
This Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9, and next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16, at 7:30 p.m. Encinal Junior-Senior High School students will present Louisa Mae Alcott’s classic Little Women.
“The Butterfly Effect: Migration is Beautiful” (“Students’ Butterflies to Visit Nation’s Capitol,” Oct. 24); a project started in part by Alamedan Kaia Marbin, 11, will host a rally in solidarity with 15,000 detained migrant children on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 3 to 4 p.m.
After the Alameda Sun went to press Tuesday, parents rallied at City Hall drawing attention to that, according to the group, since the start of the school year on Aug. 19, five children have been hit by cars on their way to school in Alameda.
