Thieves recently stole 50 bicycles and cycling safety gear from in front of Maya Lin School, where Cycles of Change was scheduled to teach bike safety. Cycles of Change helps hundreds of children learn how to bike safely to school and in their neighborhoods every year.

Kiwanis Hosts Special Needs Day

The Kiwanis Club of Alameda organized a Special Needs Day at Jean Sweeney Open Space Park. Forty youth registered for the event. Members of the Bay Area Outreach Program for adaptive sports shared their love of inclusiveness and bicycles. They made various adaptive cycles available.

Benefit Set for Shelter Children

A fundraiser concert to benefit the women and children of Alameda’s Midway Shelter is set for this Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Twin Towers United Methodist Church. Guests will be treated to a performance by the Harmony Fusion Chorus, a chapter of the Sweet Adelines.
