Vicki Vien, a senior at the Alameda Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), has been named as the 32nd annual winner of the $5,000 Ken and Shirley Van Sickle Scholarship.
Members hand out tens of thousands to worthy students
The Kiwanis Club of Alameda awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships to six high school seniors at a dinner ceremony on May 1. The students chosen excelled in academics, community service and leadership.
Three Alameda Boy Scouts, members of Troop 11, took action and celebrated Earth Day, April 20, by planting two Chinese Pistachio trees in Washington Park, during the City of Alameda’s Earth Day Festival.
