servation Society (AAPS) has annouced a program to mark Alameda’s historic buildings with an official plaque designating their significance. Plaques will come in four different designs, some of which include interpretive stories.

AAPS is currently looking for volunteers to help launch the program. Duties include: reviewing applications, historical fact checking, editing plaque text, placing orders for plaques and arranging publicity for their unveilling.

Sales below 400,000 mark, prices rise less than 2 percent

California home sales posted higher for the second straight month, and while the statewide median home price rose from the previous month as well as a year ago, the pace of appreciation continued to slow, the California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) recently reported.

Certain debt-collection activities, medical debts, will no longer affect score quite as heavily as they did

rs of the oft-dreaded FICO score, recently announced that it will stop using what it calls "certain debt-collection activities" when it calculates individual scores. For example debts that go to collection agencies and get repaid will no longer effect FICO scores.

In addition, Fair Isaac said that medical debts will have a smaller effect on its scoring criteria.

Alameda County one off just seven counties not pinched

Lower interest rates in the second quarter of 2014 failed to offset continued home price increases, lowering housing affordability statewide and in 19 of 26 counties in California, the California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) reported last week.
