Round One of Fry Bros. Tourney

The Alameda Women’s Golf Club kicked off the first round of the 87th Annual Fry Brothers Match Play Tournament last Thursday, May 4, on the Earl Fry Course.

Match play rules state that players play one-on-one competitions. Each hole is played and the golfer who completes the hole in fewer shots wins the hole. If the golfers complete the hole in the same amount of shots no one wins the hole. The golfer who wins the most holes wins the match.

Reigning Fry Brothers’ champion Tai Chewpanich lost to Dot Moody in a Flight A match-up. Moody won the match by one hole. Also in Flight A: Fran Mori defeated Cheryl Saxton by forfeit and Maggie Lindquist topped Jenny Bae 3-and-2 — Lindquist led by three holes with two holes remaining.
