All six Alameda high school baseball and softball teams qualified for the North Coast Section (NCS) playoffs. 

Baseball
The Alameda High (AHS) baseball team is the first seed in the NCS Div. II playoffs. The Hornets (23-2-1 overall) took on the 16th-seed Newark Memorial yesterday in the first round. The winner will take on the winner of the Tamalpais of Mill Valley and Marin Catholic of Kentfield game Saturday, May 26. 

AHS lost in the West Alameda County Conference (WACC) Foothill League championship game to Berkeley, 10-1, on May 17. Last year the Hornets beat Berkeley in the league tournament championship game, 4-3. The Hornets did finish first in the Foothill League regular season standings at 14-1-1. 

The Encinal High (EHS) baseball team was awarded the third seed in the NCS Div. III playoffs. The Jets (18-7-1 overall) took on the 14th-seed Las Lomas of Walnut Creek in the first round Tuesday, May 22. The winner will take on the winner of the Kennedy of Fremont and Piner of Santa Rosa game tomorrow. EHS also lost their league championship game to Piedmont, 4-2, in the WACC Shoreline League final. The team went 10-5-1 in league play in the regular season for first place.

The St. Joseph Note Dame (SJND) baseball team battled Eureka in the first round of the NCS Div. III playoffs on Tuesday. The team is the 10th seed in the tournament, while Eureka is the seventh seed. The winner will face the winner of the Campolindo of Moraga and Sonoma Valley game tomorrow. SJND is seeking its third straight NCS title. The team went 14-10 overall and 6-4 in the Bay Counties East league.

Softball
The AHS softball team faced off against Montgomery of Santa Rosa in the NCS Div. II playoffs yesterday. The Hornets were the underdog as the 12th seed against Montgomery the fifth seed. The winner will take on the winner of the Carondelet of Concord and Rancho Cotate of Rohnert Park game on Saturday, May 26. The Hornets went 14-9 overall and 6-4 in the Foothill League. 

The EHS softball team took on Campolindo yesterday in the first round of the NCS Div. III playoffs. The Jets were given the eighth seed and Campolindo the ninth seed. The winner will take on  first-seed Marin Catholic on Saturday. EHS went 10-8 overall and 5-5 in the Shoreline league.

The SJND softball team went a remarkable 19-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Bay Counties East league. They finished first in the league in the regular season. The stellar record earned the Pilots the first seed in the NCS Div. IV playoffs. The Pilots were given a first-round bye. SJND’s first opponent in the playoffs will be the winner of the St. Mary’s of Albany and Kelseyville game on Saturday. The Pilots won the NCS Div. V title in 2016.
