September Charm Day Golf Tournament Held
Maggie Lindquist won the September charm at the Alameda Women’s Golf Club’s Charm Event last Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Earl Fry Course.
Lindquist posted a net 73 from the first flight — handicap of 11 to 20. Her net 73 was a stroke ahead of Barbara Mickle who shot a net 74.
Lindquist won her flight by two strokes, just ahead of Tai Chewpanich who posted a net 75. Chewpanich did however, shoot the lowest gross score of the event with an overall 86. Claire Loud shot a net 76 for third place in the flight, while Dot Moody shot a net 77 for fourth place.
Mickle won the second flight — handicap of 22 to 28. She beat out Linda Ferill and Pat O’Hara who both shot net 80s to tie for second place. Susan Yoon and Sarah Valentine tied for fourth place in the flight after both posted net 81s.
Diane Hughes shot a net 75 to win the third flight — handicap of 29 to 34. Jean Cho and Bonnie Kim shot matching net 77s to tie for second place in the flight. LeAnn Curran shot a net 78 for fourth place in the third flight.
The fourth flight — handicap of 35 to 40 — ended in a tie atop the leaderboard. Janet Kirk and Ruby Soo both shot net 75s to tie for first place. Pam Curtis posted a net 76 for third place, while Kay Park posted a net 77 to round out the top four.
Susan Logan won the closest-to-the-hole competition on the 15th hole with her ball landing 13’ 1” from the pin. Tai Chewpanich’s attempt stopped 15’ 7” from the hole. Jean Cho was third with her attempt landing 26’ 1” from the hole.
