West Alameda County Conference Track Meet Results

Alameda High School (AHS) senior Madison Tiaffay finished first in the women’s 800-meter race at the West Alameda County Conference League Championship last weekend with a time of 2:20.99. Members of both AHS and Encinal High School (EHS) competed in the two-day event that took place on Thursday, May 5 and Saturday, May 7 at Hayward High School.

Tiaffay’s teammate Lindsay Todora, finished fourth out of 28 participants with a time of 2:27.47. EHS freshman Katelyn Shafer rounded out the top five with a time of 2:29.60. AHS senior Katy Hosokawa finished eighth overall with a time of 2:31.71.

Tiaffay finished second out of 34 competitors in the women’s 1,600-meter race with a time of 5:18.72. Her teammate junior Sophia Carpenter finished third with a time of 5:21.69. Todora finished eighth overall with a time of 5:41.94, while Hosokawa finished ninth with a time of 5:43.96. The Jets’ Schafer finished 11th with a time of 5:46.34.

Carpenter finished second in the women’s 3,200-meter race with a time of 11:39.26. AHS sophomores Zoe Hochderffer and Alexandra Mills finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Hochderffer finished at 13:12.21, while Mills came in at 13:27.71.

EHS junior Diego Cerna finished fourth out of 39 participants in the men’s 400-meter competition with a time of 51.85. AHS junior Gabriel Garcia finished ninth in the race with a time of 53.20.

EHS senior Isaiah Coss finished eighth out of 33 runners in the men’s 800-meter race with a time of 2:03.55. Cerna finished 17th with a time of 2:08.45.

AHS senior David Song finished second out of 38 participants in the men’s 1,600-meter race with a time of 4:26.39. EHS senior Benjamin Wilson Ripsom finished 17th with a time of 4:42.72.

Song also finished second out of 29 runners in the men’s 3,200-meter race with a time of 9:37.28. Ripsom finished fifth in the race with a time of 9:52.42. AHS freshman Lars Petersen finished 11th overall with a time of 10:18.44.

The North Coast Section Track-and-Field Area Meet Championships takes place Saturday, May 14.

St. Joseph Notre Dame
St. Joseph Notre Dame track-and-field athletes competed in the Bay County League track and Field championship on Friday, May 6, at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.

The Pilot team of Teo Salgues, Bryan McCray, Benjamin Katz and Aidan Johnson finished fourth out of 16 teams in the men’s 4x100-meter relay race. The Pilot team of Samuel Kohler, Thomas McCue, Jason Arellano and Arlo Tucker finished fifth out of 21 teams in the men’s 4x400-meter relay race. The team finished the race with a time of 3:45.56.

SJND freshman Michael Loller finished fifth (11.69) in the men’s 100-meter competition and seventh (24.03) in the men’s 200-meter competition.

Fellow freshman Isabella Corral finished ninth out of 22 runners in the women’s 400-meter race with a time of 1:07.21. The team will take part in NCS Class A Championships, May 14, in Santa Rosa.
