West End Restaurants Still Open for Take Out

This has been an extraordinarily difficult time for business owners, both large and small. Last week was like none seen in recent memory. What the world looked like on Monday was vastly different than where we wound up just a few days later. Keeping up with the rapidly changing news and resources for our business community brings new meaning to the old phrase, “drinking from a firehose.”

But the staff here at the West Alameda Business Association (WABA) is doing its level best to try to centralize resources for local business members.

For our fellow Alameda residents? We know how difficult this has been for you as well, especially those with kids. But, despite these challenges we have been humbled by the outreach of support we have seen for the beloved businesses that create the unique fabric of our community. From GoFundMe campaigns that are exceeding expectations to Peeps Cash Mobs of our favorite lunch spots, we appreciate every to-go and delivery order you place. WABA has compiled a list of restaurants that are open during the shutdown, which can be found on the WABA website and Facebook page. Please, continue to support the variety of restaurants and perhaps even try something new!

We wanted to highlight two new spots that have only just opened their doors in the last few weeks. Donut Petit, the latest offering from the team at Café Jolie, brings you a daily selection of artfully crafted, and deliciously decorated donuts and treats. They are doing curbside delivery and local delivery for larger orders. Check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest updates or call (510) 747-8817 to order.

The other new kid on the block, Bhan Mae Vane, just opened their doors at 1511 Webster St. only weeks ago. Their team is serving up Lao and Thai cuisine. They are serving up favorites such as Pad Thai and Pumpkin Curry, and while we are sure they can’t wait to have you dine in their newly refurbished dining room, they are taking your lunch and dinner to-go orders daily at (510) 227-5197.

While we are asking the Alameda community to step up and support the West End’s restaurants, the restaurants are doing the same for the community. India Palace will be donating meals daily to Alameda Meals on Wheels. Donut Petit is giving unused food to first responders and grocery workers around the Island.

To keep up to speed on the latest news and updates, we encourage you to visit www.westalamedabusines.com or friend us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/westalamedabusiness.

We wish everyone in our community the best. Stay home, stay safe, eat local.
