Youth Volunteers Help Make Commuters Possible

These young volunteers helped on the last day of the Commuters Golf Tournament by carrying score signs for the last two groups of players, providing “instant non-digital information with the personal touch,” according to Commuters organizer John McClure. As members of the Junior Golf Club, they quickly become familiar with Norma Arnerich, a long-time influential member of the Alameda golf community and the Commuters’ first female Green Jacket. She was also the city’s first female golf commissioner. Arnerich appears in the center, surrounded by the volunteers she helps organize.
