Kenneth Roy Heaton Sr.
Kenneth Roy Heaton Sr, born September 25th, 1942 in Fargo, ND to the late Thomas and Jean Heaton, passed away on December 18th, 2021 in Martinez, California at The Martinez VA Hospital from natural causes. Ken lived in Antioch, CA with his son Terry Heaton where he enjoyed meeting up with his brothers and sisters who all lived close by in the Bay Area. He is survived by his four children, Terry Heaton, Michelle Goodness (Son-in-Law Nick Goodness and their 3 children Madeline, Daniella, and Logan), Robert Heaton (Daughter-in-Law Julie Heaton and their child Ella), and Kenny Heaton (Daughter-in-Law Sara Heaton) as well as his siblings Sharon Metz, Linda Wood, and Tommy Heaton.
Ken graduated from Alameda High School in 1959 and just after graduation he joined the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He would love to tell stories of his time in service as a Seabee and even teach you some fun, maybe dirty, words he learned while traveling abroad. After his service in the Navy, Ken opened up his own business in Alameda called Knight Alarm where he would help protect families all across the Bay Area with his security equipment. He eventually sold his company to California Security where he stayed on as Area manager and was transferred to Truckee, CA where he worked with them up until 2016. Ken really enjoyed his time in Truckee as he loved to fish and camp.
From a young age, Ken was fascinated by cars and trucks. He and his younger brother Tommy would love to talk about what cars they use to own and build. One of Ken’s favorite events during the year was Hot August Nights in Reno, NV. He also enjoyed Thanksgivings where you could always catch him trying to sneak away with a few more shrimp or trying to get the first helping of Turkey skin right out of the oven. If you were lucky enough, you could even nudge Ken to dance a little bit to Dion and The Belmont’s “The Wanderer” with a little help from a few shots of Fireball.
Most of all, Ken loved his family and being with them whenever he could. He loved his children and grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, and his friends. He will certainly be missed and remembered by those who had the wonderful opportunity to know him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for, Kenneth Heaton Sr.
