The Alameda High School (AHS) Amplify Club is launching its disposable plastic waste prevention program at a second Alameda restaurant. The Amplify Club announced recently they have expanded the program to include Hang Ten Boiler at 2315 Santa Clara Ave.
Despite being such a small island, an impressive number of professional baseball players have come out of Alameda high schools over the years.
Both Alameda public high schools took home awards at the California Yearbook Academy. Encinal High School’s (EHS) Horizon took first place in the small high school division, while Alameda High School’s (AHS) Acorn took home second place in the large high school division.
The Kiwanis Club of Alameda held a formal dinner for the recipients of their scholarship program on June 8 at the Alameda Elks Lodge Ballroom. The scholarships were funded by the Alameda Kiwanis Foundation.
On Saturday, June 4, the Encinal High School (EHS) chess club went undefeated against Alameda High School (AHS) in the first ever “Island Board” chess tournament. The event was held on AHS’ campus.
The Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) LGBTQ+ Roundtable announced the winners of the annual Everyone Belongs Here Poster and Poetry Contest on May 30.
The Alameda High School (AHS) Athletic Hall of Fame committee will hold its fourth annual ceremony to induct and honor 10 former AHS athletes. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at the Alameda Elks Lodge.
Multiple Alameda high school track-and-field athletes competed in the North Coast Section (NCS) Meet of Champions event Saturday, May 21 at Dublin High. The event is the NCS championship tournament in track and field.
