AFD Offers Safety Program

The Alameda Fire Department’s Home Safety Program provides much-needed services to low-to-moderate income residents over 62 and to the disabled of any age. The program provides and installs the newly required 10-year-maintenance-free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Learning New Survival Skills

The Mountain Wave Search and Rescue team in Washington State is not your average emergency response team. Using volunteers and no paid responders, the team has logged more than 150 rescues in more than 7,000 hours while covering some 60,000 miles — in just one year.
